Ceramic Art London 2017

Returning to the vibrant King’s Cross area and the Central Saint Martins building, Ceramic Art London (CAL) has now become one of the leading ceramic fairs internationally. Organised by the Craft Potters Association, this year it has attracted some 90 makers. Exhibitors come from the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Denmark, South Korea and Japan.

The strength of the show is the mix of well-established makers and the introduction of new faces. For the public it represents a vivid snapshot of the dynamic nature of modern ceramics internationally. As well as the opportunity to sell work, it provides new makers recently graduating from UK Universities with a platform to gain the notice of collectors and galleries. The influence of the BBC TV Throw Down programme will be seen in visitor numbers this year, as well as the Radio4 Woman’s Hour interview with Kathryn Hearn, who is exhibiting this year.

The CAL organising committee reports that standards have never been higher. Competition to exhibit has been fierce. 2017 sees a trend in makers taking inspiration from the city, urban environments and architecture, with London being one of the foremost influences.

The show is on until Sunday 2 April 2017, click here for more information.
