ClayCraft magazine

With the increased interest in ceramics comes a new magazine, Paul Bailey takes a look.

For a long time now there has been no regular magazine available to buy over the counter for those who are new to ceramics and those wanting to keep informed about new trends and techniques.

To fill this gap comes the monthly ClayCraft magazine. Launched on the back of the BBC TV programme ‘Throw Down’ it looks to inspire enthusiasts with step-by-step demonstrations that will also appeal to full time students.

ClayCraft also aims to support those makers who are full time and/or part of Associations with features of their work.  This is an area critical to those students who are graduating and looking to take their first career steps.

Alongside the techniques you can find reviews of the ceramic shows, events listings, suppliers and courses.

Coming at a time when existing studio space providers like Turning Earth and Kiln Rooms are expanding due to demand, the magazine is something that makers at any level can turn to for information and inspiration.

So is there a vested interest, how much does it cost and where is it available?

It is purely a commercial venture and only exists because people want to read it.

WHSmiths stock it and so do many of the supermarkets and pottery suppliers at a cover price of £4.25 per issue.

A six-month subscription to ClayCraft is available for £17.85 by clicking here or call 01959 543 747, quoting the code ‘POTTERY’.
